How to buy well when the market is slow
Doorvia Guides · April 28, 2026

More inventory means conditions, second showings and negotiation come back - use all three.
When listings outnumber motivated buyers, the advantages shift. You can take a second showing, bring a contractor, keep a financing condition and an inspection condition, and negotiate on price, closing date and inclusions.
Focus on listings with time on market and at least one price reduction. Those sellers have already accepted that their first number was wrong, which makes a realistic offer more likely to land.
Do not confuse a slow market with a free one. Well-priced homes in strong locations still sell quickly in any market, so be ready to act decisively on the good ones and patient with everything else.
