The pre-delivery inspection: your one recorded walkthrough
Doorvia Guides · August 21, 2026

Everything you want fixed under warranty should appear on the PDI form, in writing, before you take keys.
Before occupancy you complete a pre-delivery inspection with the builder's representative. The form you sign becomes the record of the home's condition at handover, which makes it central to any later warranty claim.
Bring a checklist, a flashlight, a phone charger to test outlets, a level and a camera. Test every window and door, run every tap and fixture, check the tub and shower for drainage, run the heating and cooling, open and close closet doors, inspect floor and tile finishes closely, and photograph everything.
Do not let anything be described as a minor item to be handled later without writing it down. If you can, bring a qualified inspector to attend the PDI with you.
